Innocence

Jazminja was walking through the forest one afternoon. The Elves were said to live here but none had been seen for a long time, and were considered lost to the world. She sighed and looked up at the sky, thinking of where they could have vanished to, but her attention was brought back to the real world by movement ahead. As her eyes focused she saw a young girl, picking some strange, yet pretty coloured flowers.

As her eyes focused on the girl she saw long pointed ears, a classic sign of Elfish blood. Jazminja gasped, taking a step back, and what was an Elf doing here?

The girl seemed to sense the movement, turning her emerald green eyes to look over at the Princess. Her little face broke into a smile and she stood up properly, running over. As she came to a halt in front of her, she held up the flowers she’d picked. She blinked once and smiled again. Jazminja took the flowers, looking down at them and smiling. When she looked back up the little girl had gone, a habit Elves had. Smiling and humming Jazminja kept on her walk.
